This is a calculating program that will find, for slender struts, the optimum cross-section and strength calculations to ensure buckling does not take place.
This program helps calculate optimum cross-section of slender struts strained for buckling. It will calculate the optimum cross-section required to prevent buckling for the given strain load. The program will help you choose from six basic types of buckling and analyze 20 types of cross sections of the struts. The tool will provide you strength check of the strut, and design optimum profile for accommodating the set load. The program comes with a built-in table of materials and of area characteristics of W, S, C, and L profiles as per ANSI/AISC standards. I, U, L and T profiles per DIN/ISO are also available. Calculations are based on well-known algorithms such as Johnson, Tetmajer, Euler, Secant, etc. Data and procedures are followed as per the standards mentioned.
Calculations and graphical representations for permitted stress are done based on the slenderness rate. This has a simple and easy to use interface. It is intuitive enough that most users should get familiar with it quite easily. Getting productive with it should not take much time. For the mechanical engineers needing this kind of design calculations, the interface should be easy enough. This module is part of a larger package that include calculations for gear, belt and chain drives, springs, beam, shaft, bolt connection, shaft connections, tolerances and many others. This is a very good product. If you are looking for a similar solution, you should try it in your exact workflow.
